PACKER LAKE OUTING REPORT: by Keith Hepler
The Heplers, Bill Thomas and Bill Heinemann arrived at the Packer Lake campsite Thursday night. On Friday we went off on a 60-mile ride that included going down Rattlesnake and up Herkimer. This was the first time "the Bills" were ever on Herkimer as previously we could never find the elusive spot where it cut off from Rattlesnake. There was also a little urgency to ride Herkimer and the adjoining Little Grizzly, being informed that the Forest Service will close those two trails by next year. Friday night Anton arrived and we did a shorter ride on Saturday of about 50 miles. I should mention that Larry and Karin came to the outing without a motorcycle (although he did bring his pedal bike), as Larry feared there would be no one to ride with him. We missed them at the potluck when they had to leave due to the hot temperatures and a bum generator. However, we thank you, Masons, for the carrot cake you left with us.
