Report from Packer Lake Outing: by Chas Moser
TBSA camped in our usual "cow camp" (minus the cows this time) above Packer Lake. The TBSA turnout was once again small, even with the nice weather and good riding conditions. Three rigs showed up: the Hamptons, the Heplers (even though Keith is not yet riding) and the Mosers. Day riders included Tad and Larry. Le & Elaine visited us on Saturday. TBSA shared the camp spot with probably ten or more jeeping families. Chas' quest to improve his 'reputation' took yet another setback. On Friday, after a very strenuous ride, mostly on very technical single track, it was decided that we should head back towards camp since it was already almost four o'clock at the time. Chas 'figured' that the fastest way back to camp would be on four-wheel drive roads. Well, guess again!! Several of the "roads" were virtually impassable. After 90 miles, and after hours of huffing and puffing and pushing bikes, the three tuckered out riders (i.e. Bob, Larry and Chas) finally made it back to camp at about 7:45 pm. On Saturday, Tad and Chas had a much more enjoyable 28-mile ride, all of which was single-track, and made it back to camp in plenty of time for hors d'oeuvres and another superb potluck. The Heplers were kind enough to let us have the potluck in their motorhome. As a side note, we all got along very well with the abundant numbers of bicyclists out on the trails. Enjoy the photos courtesy of Vicki and Chas.
