Foresthill ~ Sugar Pine

The campground and riding areas are in the Foresthill Ranger District of the Tahoe National Forest. You can get a trail system map here.

Elevation: 2,500 to 5,000 feet. Camp is at 3,700 feet.

Weather: Mild to hot in summer, very wet in winter. Current Forecast

Facilities: Outhouses, Bar-B-Qs.

Distance from US-50 & I-5: 66 miles for an estimated travel time of 1 hour 25 minutes.

Directions: Take highway 80 to the Foresthill exit just past Auburn. Take Foresthill Road east for a total of 24 miles. About 8 miles past the town of Foresthill, you'll see a sign that says Sugar Pine. Turn left onto Sugar Pine Road. About 3.5 miles down, the main road makes a hard left, and a smaller road continues straight. Go straight and turn left into the staging area.

34 miles (about 45 minutes) from the Sugar Pine campground
Return up Sugar Pine Road to Foresthill Road.
Turn right onto Foresthill Road and proceed west for 24 miles.
Turn left onto westbound highway 80 and proceed about 2 miles.
Take the highway 49 (Grass Valley / Placerville) exit.
Turn left at the signal onto highway 49 and proceed about 3.4 miles.
Turn left onto Education Street.
