Foresthill ~ Sheep Camp
Comments: Note this is not the developed Sugar Pine Campground.
The campground and riding areas are in the Foresthill Ranger District
of the Tahoe National
Forest. You can get a trail system map here.
Elevation: 2,500 to 5,000 feet. Camp is at about 4,800 feet.

Directions: Take I-80 east to the Foresthill exit just past Auburn.
Follow Foresthill Divide Road through the town of Foresthill and 9 miles to the left turn
that goes to Sugar Pine Campground; continue another 3.2 miles (passing Elliot Ranch Road
and Forks House). Turn right at the next road (when you are 12.2 miles northeast of
Foresthill) and proceed 1.0 mile (crossing Bullion Creek and turning south) and camp will
be on the right, at the intersection with Mitchell Mine Road, marked by Chas sign.

34 miles (about 45 minutes) from the Elliot Ranch campground
Return to Foresthill Road.
Turn left onto Foresthill Road and proceed west for 27 miles.
Turn left onto westbound highway 80 and proceed about 2 miles.
Take the highway 49 (Grass Valley / Placerville) exit.
Turn left at the signal onto highway 49 and proceed about 3.4 miles.
Turn left onto Education Street. |
