Deer Valley Take your favorite route to the town of Upper Lake (north of the northwest shore of Clear Lake in Lake County); from Upper Lake go north for 11-12 miles on Elk Mountain Road (also known as County Road 301 or Forest Road M-1); then go 4 miles east on Forest Road 16N01 to Deer Valley Campground. (GPS reading approximately N 39 15' 57.1068", W 122 53' 01.8744") Facilities: l3 tables, l3 stoves, 1 toilet, and trailer space. Elevation 3,700 feet. Open year round. Dry camp, bring water. No garbage service provided. FEE: $0 Alternate route: Coming from the east on Highway 20 (on the northeast shore of Clear Lake), about 2 miles after Lucerne, turn right on Bartlett Springs Road and go northeast 2 miles; then turn left and go northwest about 14 miles to Deer Valley Campground. This route is very curvy with many switchbacks. |
